Azo-dye test is used to distinguish the difference between the Ethyl amine and aniline from each other.
On reacting with NaNO2 + dil HCl and followed by 2-naphthol gives a coloured product. But when it is ethylamine it gives brisk effervescence due to the evolution of N2 gas under the same conditions.
