Solution

Combustion reaction:-

  1. It is a type of reaction where, a substance burns in presence of oxygen, producing carbon dioxide gas, heat and light as its products.
  2. For example, the burning of methane (CH4) produces carbon dioxide and water vapour.
  3. The gas that evolved here in this reaction is Carbon dioxide(CO2).
  4. The balanced reaction is as follows:

CH4(g)Methane+2O2(g)OxygenCO2(g)()Carbondioxide+2H2O(g)Watervapour

Therefore, the burning of methane produces carbon dioxide (CO2):

CH4(g)Methane+2O2(g)OxygenCO2(g)()Carbondioxide+2H2O(g)Watervapour
