Examples of organelles that have their own DNA are
- Chloroplast: Chloroplast present in plant cells have their own DNA. It is the organelle that helps in regreening the green pigment, chlorophyll present in plants. These degrade at the early stage so the old aged plants do not have many green leaves.
- Mitochondria: Both plant cells and animal cells possess mitochondria. It has its own DNA and plays a met role in the synthesis of enzyme and production of energy.
