Give the reaction when sodium peroxide dissolved in water.

The reaction of Sodium peroxide in water:

  1. Sodium peroxide reacts with distilled water to produce Sodium hydroxide(NaOH) and Hydrogen peroxide(H2O2).
  2. Because of the presence of NaOH the solution will be strongly alkaline.
  3. Na2O2(aq)Sodiumperoxide+2H2O(l)Water2NaOH(aq)Sodiumhydroxide+H2O2(l)Hydrogenperoxide
