Open in App
Solution

pH-sensitive growth:

  1. Plants and animals are known to show growth sensitive to pH.
  2. pH is known as the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution.
  3. For example, plants are known to be growth sensitive to the pH of the soil.
  4. Plants need an optimum pH of soil for their growth, hence, showing growth dependence on soil pH.
  5. In the case of animals, a certain stomach pH level needs to be maintained to activate the digestive acids for complete digestion.
  6. Low pH can lead to acidic conditions in the stomach causing stomach acidity.
  7. Hence, all these reasons show that plants and animals are dependent on pH and are sensitive to variation in pH.
