How are involuntary action and reflex action different from each other?

Involuntary action:

  1. These are actions that cannot be controlled by us or we can say that it takes place without the conscious choice of an organism.
  2. Example- blinking of an eye, beating of heart, etc.

Reflex action:

  1. These actions are a result of stimuli or take place along with the stimuli.
  2. Example- removing your hand immediately while touching a hot object.
Involuntary ActionReflex Action
These do not involve skeletal muscle.Involves skeletal muscle.
It is not influenced by any kind of external conditions.Influenced by any external stimuli or condition.
May be fast or slow.It is always fast.
Controlled by the mid-brain.Controlled by the spinal cord.
