Industrial production of microbes:

  1. Microbes are produced on an industrial scale using fermenters.
  2. Fermenters are referred as to the vessels used for growing microbes on an industrial scale. This is an enclosed, sterilized vessel, which maintains optimal conditions for the growth of a microorganism.
  3. It provides the optimum conditions like temperature, pH, substrate, oxygen, etc required for the culturing of desired products.
  4. Many products are required on a large scale from food to medicine, these products are produced on a large scale using fermenters.
  5. Most of the products are done by the process of fermentation.
  6. Examples include beverages like wine and beer, medicines, and statins for stain removal.
  7. Fermenters are useful in producing a broad range of products such as amylase, cellulose, citric acid, protease, streptomycin, etc. Apart from these products, fermenters are also used in the dairy, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
