Annelids and Arthropods are a different class of organisms. The difference between annelids and Arthropods are tabulated below
Annelids | Arthropods |
Metameric segmentation is observed where the body is segmented, from head to tail. | Incomplete metameric segmentation, the body is not completely segmented |
The circulatory system of annelids is closed. | Arthropods have an open circulatory system. |
The body is divided into several identical segments. | The body is divided into a few specialized segments. |
Appendages are absent in Annelids. | Arthropods have jointed appendages. |
They are referred to as segmented worms | They are termed as animals with jointed legs |
The coelom is the true body cavity they possess | Presence of body cavity containing blood known as ‘haemocoel.’ |
Breathing takes place through the skin | Breathing takes place through the trachea, gill, book lungs etc |
Most of the annelids are hermaphrodites | They have separate sexes |
Example – Nereis, Earthworm | Example – Housefly, crab |
