Solution

Atoms:-

  • Atoms are the smallest particles of an element that may or may not exist independently.
  • Atoms are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
  • Except noble gases, atoms are chemically reactive in nature.
  • Atoms usually exist in two forms:
  1. Molecules: A molecule is the smallest particle of matter which is composed of two or more atoms and has independent existence.
  2. Ions: Ions are the charged species that are formed by the losing or gaining of electrons by a neutral gaseous atom.

Therefore, atoms usually exist in the form of molecules or ions.
