Open in App
Solution

Separation of Anthracene and Sodium chloride:

  • For the separation of anthracene and sodium chloride sublimation is used.
  • Sublimation is a process in which the solid substances directly change into gases state without undergoing a liquid state.
  • When anthracene and sodium chloride are both heated in a mixture.
  • After heating only sodium chloride is left as residue while anthracene turns into vapour.

Therefore, a mixture of anthracene and sodium chloride is separated by sublimation.
