  1. Hydra is a freshwater creature of the phylum Cnidaria.
  2. It develops by an asexual method known as budding.
  3. It is tiny(½ centimeter).

Reproduction in Hydra:

  1. Parent Hydra: The hydra has cells known as regenerative cells. On this site where budding occurs.
  2. Developing Bud: An outgrowth known as a bud develops due to multiple cell divisions.
  3. New Bud: These buds grow into small individuals of the plant. These buds receive nutrition from the parent plant. They remain attached to the plant until they are mature.
  4. New Hydra: Once they mature, they get separated and exist as independent individuals. They leave behind scarred tissue.
