  2. These excited neighboring particles continue the same with their neighboring particles.
  3. The energy is transferred from one particle to the next in the form of vibrations.
  4. A particle comes to rest after transferring its vibration and the next one starts vibrating.
  5. This chain continues throughout the medium till the sound reaches our ears.
