Question

How does the speed of electromagnetic wave in vacuum depend upon the source of radiation?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Electromagnetic waves travel at the speed of light in a vacuum.
  2. It is given by c=f×λ(where c is the speed, f is the frequency, and λ is the wavelength)
  3. The wavelength of an electromagnetic wave increases when we go from Gamma rays to Radio waves whereas the frequency decreases.
  4. Hence, the speed remains constant.

The speed of electromagnetic waves in a vacuum does not depend upon the source of radiation.
