How glycerol reach with oxalic acid?

When glycerol is heated with oxalic acid at 100–110°C temperature formic acid is produced as one of the product

  • Glycerol mono oxalate will produce, which will transform to formic acid and glycerol because of decarboxylation and the elimination of H2O.
  • At higher temperature 260°C to 280°C, oxalic acid and glycerol react with each other to produce an allyl alcohol which is also produced via decarboxylation and elimination of H2O
