Human Heart:

  1. The human heart consists of 4 chambers- two atria and two ventricles.
  2. The upper chambers are called the left atrium and right atrium.
  3. The lower chambers are called the left ventricle and right ventricle.
  4. Between the right atrium and the right ventricle, a tricuspid valve is found.
  5. Between left atrium and left ventricle mitral valve is found.
  6. Valves regulate the direction of the flow of blood.
  7. These chambers are surrounded by the muscular wall of the heart.
  8. The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood collected from the whole body.
  9. The deoxygenated blood from the right atrium is pumped to the right ventricle.
  10. From the right ventricle, the blood is carried towards the lungs and becomes oxygenated.
  11. Oxygenated blood is carried by blood vessels to the left atrium.
  12. The oxygenated blood from the left atrium is pumped to the left ventricle.
  13. The blood is further pumped to the rest of the body.
