Question

How much water should be added to 200 cc of semi normal solution of NaOH to make it exactly decinormal?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

The volume of semi-normal NaOH solution=200cc

Step 2: To find the volume of NaOH to make it decinormal.

We know the Normality equation i.e.
N1V1Initialsolution=N2V2FinalSolution
Here, N1andN2are the normality of initial and final solutions and V1andV2 are the volumes of initial and final solutions.

Substituting the values in the normality equation we get,
(12x200)=(110xV2)
100=V210

The volume of the final solution V2=1000cc

The volume of water added = 1000cc-200cc800cc

Therefore, the volume of water added =800cc
