Solution

Step 1: Diagram

Step 2: Explanation of virtual image in the convex mirror

  1. The object is AB and the image is A'B'
  2. A convex mirror is a spherical mirror in which the reflective surface is bulged out towards the light source.
  3. We know that the image formed through a convex mirror is an upright image.
  4. For a convex mirror when the object is placed between infinity and the mirror, the image formed is upright and diminished.
  5. In this case, a virtual, erect, and diminished image is formed.
  6. This image is formed between the focal point and the optical center.

Hence, the mirror used, in this case, is a convex mirror.
