If the nth term of an arithmetic progression is (5n-2). Find its first term, common difference and 19th term.

Solution:

Given nth term, Tn = 5n-2

Put values for n.

First term, T1 = 5×1 – 2 = 3

Second term, T2 = 5×2 – 2 

= 10-2

= 8

Common difference, d = 8-3 = 5

19th term, T19 = 5×19 -2

= 93
