In a division sum, we have dividend = 199, quotient = 16 and remainder = 7. The divisor is

(a) 11

(b) 12

(c) 23

(d) none of these

Solution:

We know dividend = (Divisor × Quotient) + remainder

Given dividend = 199

quotient = 16

remainder = 7

199 = (divisor × 16) + 7

divisor × 16 = 199 – 7

divisor × 16 = 192

divisor = 192/16

= 12

Hence option b is the answer.
