Question

In the case of streamlined flow of liquid, the loss of energy is

Open in App
Solution

Streamlined Flow:

  1. Streamlined flow is a type of flow in which layers of fluids are parallel to each other.
  2. The layers do not intersect with each other and therefore no intermixing or disruption occurs.
  3. The fluid particles possess a constant velocity with respect to time.
  4. Therefore, they are defined as the path traced by the fluid that is under a condition of steady flow.
  5. The tangent at any point of the curves of this path will give us the direction of the velocity of the fluid at that point.
  6. The opposite of streamlined flow is turbulent flow.
  7. When the flow of fluid is so vigorous that separate paths cannot be maintained it is called turbulent flow.
  8. Therefore, in streamlined flow collision between the particles of the fluid from different layers does not occur.
  9. Hence, in the case of a streamlined flow of liquid, the loss of energy is minimum.
