Solution

Fleming's left-hand rule

  1. From Fleming's left-hand rule we know that if the forefinger, the central finger, and the thumb of the left hand are stretched in such a way that they are mutually perpendicular to each other.
  2. If the central finger shows the direction of current (or v) and the forefinger shows the direction of the magnetic field, then the thumb will give the direction of deflecting force F.

Finding the direction of force

  1. According to the question magnetic field is directed along the x-axis(along with the forefinger) and the current is along the y-axis (along with the central finger).
  2. So, from Fleming's left hand, the force experienced by the conductor will be directed towards the negative of the z-axis.

Therefore, the force experienced by the conductor will be directed towards the negative of the z-axis.
