In n-p-n transistor, the p-type crystal act as?

In the n-p-n transistor, the p-type crystal act as a base.

A transistor is defined as the device which is used for regulating either current flow or voltage flow and acts as a switch or a gate. It consists of three layers of semiconductor each carrying a capable current.

The three layers of transistors are either n-type semiconductor sandwiched between two p-type semiconductors or vice versa.
