List out some strong and weak electrolytes

The substances which conduct electricity in its aqueous state molten state or fused state are known as electrolytes. Electrolytes are of two types

  1. Strong electrolytes
  2. Weak electrolytes

Strong electrolytes

The electrolytes are completely ionized called strong electrolytes.

Example

NaCl(aq) → Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

CaCl2(aq) → Ca2+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq)

NaOH(aq) → Na+(aq) + OH-(aq)

Weak electrolytes

The electrolytes which are partially ionized called weak electrolytes.

Examples

CH3COOH(aq) → CH3COO-(aq) + H+(aq)

NH4OH(aq) → NH4+(aq) + OH-(aq)
