Similarities And Differences Between Nervous And Hormonal Mechanism For Control And Coordination In Animals?

In all animals, including humans, control and coordination occur with the help neurons and a chemical substance called hormones

A neuron is a nerve cell, the basic building block of the nervous system. The neuron is a specialized cell, which functions by transmitting information throughout the body.

Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted directly into the blood by the specialized glands called the endocrine glands. There are different types of hormones, secreted by different glands and serve as messengers throughout the body.

Similarities between Nervous and Hormonal mechanism for Control and Coordination in Animals

  • Both Nervous and Hormonal systems work as a receptor and affecter organ.
  • Both Nervous and Hormonal systems are controlled by Central nervous system -Human brain.

Differences between Nervous and Hormonal mechanism for Control and Coordination in Animals

Nervous system Hormonal system
Transmits information through electrical impulses. Transmits information through blood cells.
