Frictional force plays an important role in our daily life.
- A running car or bicycle uses friction to stop. As the driver steps on the breaks, the vehicles slows down to a full stop. This is possible because of the friction between the brakes and the wheels.
- When the biker squeezes a lever on the handlebar, rubber brake pads press against the bicycle wheel rim. Friction between the brake pads and the wheel slows down or stops the bicycle.
- Walking, running, playing, writing, standing cannot be possible without friction. Because of friction, there is control over steps. Friction keeps your shoes from sliding as you walk.
