Disease:

The disease is a particular abnormal condition that negatively affects the structure and function of all or a part of an organism and that is not immediately due to any external injury.

Based on the extent of occurrence diseases can be categorized into four types:

  1. Epidemic diseases: Derived from Greek origin the word can be broken down into epi meaning upon or over, and demos meaning people.
  2. It is a disease that affects a large number of people within a community or population, in a specific area or geographical region.
  3. Examples include polio, smallpox, yellow fever, etc.
  4. Pandemic disease: Derived from the Greek word pandemic means common public.
  5. A pandemic means widespread infectious disease in several countries or continents spread over a large scattered area.
  6. COVID 19 is an example of a pandemic disease.
  7. Endemic disease: Endemic disease is restricted to certain people or a small region.
  8. Malaria is a common example of an endemic disease.
  9. Sporadic disease: Sporadic means disease occurring in specific or scattered regions over an irregular interval of time.
  10. Tetanus, Rabies are examples of sporadic diseases.
