Common electrical hazards

  1. When there are defective electric wires and poor wiring it can cause unpredicted power surges damaging the components of the circuit.
  2. In case of faulty switches, plugs, and cords, electric shock can be caused.
  3. Pouring water when there is an occurrence of electrical fire which is a bad practice because water is a good conductor of electricity so it can electrocute the person spraying the water.
  4. Electrocution occurs when a person suffers an electric shock.
  5. Electrical burns occur on hands and feet from where the current enters and exits.

Ways to prevent electrical hazards

  1. Keeping electrical appliances away from water and moisture.
  2. Having a proper electrical safety outlet can reduce electrical hazards at home. Also, check the outlets for loose plugs.
  3. Never overload the outlets with multiple adaptors and plugs.
  4. The wattage of the bulb should be right. Make sure that the wattage is not overloaded which can result in an outbreak of fire.
  5. Get rid of cords and plugs that are frayed and worn out.
