Crop production:

  1. When plants are grown on a large scale for commercial purposes, the process is called crop production.
  2. These are provided for food like rice, wheat, maize, beans, etc.

The process of crop production completes in the following steps:

  1. Ploughing: Through ploughing, we prepare the soil for growing crops. This is done with a tool called a plough. The soil is turned and gets loose after ploughing and ready is owing seeds.
  2. Sowing: When soil gets ready, we place seeds for germination into it. Many types of tools are used for this. Seeds are sown in rows.
  3. Adding fertilizers and manures: These substances are added to the soil to increase fertility. Manure is completely natural and is made by the excreta of animals. Fertilizers are some chemicals that are synthesized artificially.
  4. Irrigation: The seeds need water for germination. So, water is provided in the soil through many procedures.
  5. Protection from weeds: Weeds are plants grown in the fields along with the desired crop plants. These are removed by using chemicals or other methods.
  6. Harvesting: In harvesting, the desired or valuable parts of plants, like grains, are collected.
  7. Storing: After collecting grains, they are dried and then stored in large containers to keep them protected from spoiling.
