Marsh Gas

  1. Marsh gas also known as swamp gas or bog gas, is a mixture primarily of methane, smaller amounts of hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and trace phosphine that is produced naturally within some geographical marshes, swamps and bogs.
  2. Methane is called Marsh gas because it is obtained from marshy places.
  3. It is a gaseous natural product produced from the bacterial decomposition of organic materials especially cellulose in markets.

Therefore, Marsh gas mainly contains methane (CH4).
