Coir or coconut fibre is a natural fibre obtained from the husk or the mesocarp of coconut. Since the fibre is typically golden colour after cleaning up, it is referred to as golden fibre. It is a fibrous, tough and naturally resistant to seawater. Individual fibre cells of coir fibres are hollow and narrow having thick walls containing cellulose. They are used in products such as doormats, floor mats, mattresses, brushes etc.
