Natural source of acetic acid – Vinegar
Fermenting fruits make acetic acid naturally. Some bacteria also excrete it, such as the highest common Acetobacter organisms.
Acetic acid has the chemical formula CH3COOH. The common name of ethanoic acid is acetic acid. is a highly recognised organic compound that gives vinegar its sour taste and pungent odour. It is an example of one of the simplest carboxylic acids. Any alcoholic solution can oxidise and produce a solution containing acetic acid, which is vinegar.
