Solution

Convex mirror:

  1. Convex Mirror is a curved mirror where the reflective surface bulges out toward the light source.
  2. This bulging-out surface reflects light outwards and is not used to focus light.
  3. Convex mirrors are widely used as rear-view mirrors in automobiles and vehicles because they can diverge light beams and make virtual images.
  4. Convex mirrors always form virtual images.
  5. This is because the focal point and the center of curvature of the convex mirror are imaginary points and that cannot be reached.
  6. So the image is formed inside the mirror and cannot be projected on a screen.

Thus, convex mirrors are used as the side view of mirrors in vehicles.
