Question

Name two safety measures commonly used in electric circuits and appliances.

Solution

Step1: Electric Fuse

An electric fuse is connected in series. It protects the circuit from overloading and prevents it from short-circuiting.

  1. The purpose of an electric fuse is to prevent the flow of excessive current through the circuit.
  2. When the current passing through the wire exceeds its maximum limit of the fuse, the fuse melts to stop the current flow through that circuit, hence thereby protecting the appliances connected to the circuit.

Step2: Proper earthing

Proper earthing of an electric circuit in which any leakage of current in an electric appliance is transferred to the ground, and people using the appliance do not get the shock.

  1. Earthing is a must-to-do thing to prevent electric shocks.
  2. Any type of leakage of current in an electric appliance is transferred to the ground, and people using that appliance do not get the shock.

Thus, Electric fuse and proper earthing are two safety measures commonly used in electric circuits and appliances.
