Newton's law of gravitation is applicable to

Open in App
Solution

Newton's Gravitational Law:

  1. It asserts that every object in the universe attracts every other object with some forces which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of their distance.
  2. This can be mathematically expressed as:
    Fg=Gm1m2r2; where
    Fg= Gravitational Force acting upon the body
    G = Gravitational constant = 6.674×10-11m3kg-1s-2.
    m1 = Mass of the first object
    m2 = Mass of the second object
    r = The distance between the centers of the masses of two objects
  3. It acts in a direction along the line connecting the objects' centers.
  4. As a result, it is a central driving force.

This law is universal in its application to all the objects.
