The correct option is B False

Litmus paper test:

  1. Litmus paper is actually a paper which is used for the indication of the acidity as well as the alkalinity of the substance.
  2. It is basically a filter paper which has been treated with the use of lichen-provided a natural and the soluble dye.
  3. There are two types of litmus paper that are Red and Blue that will change it's color according to the pH of the solution identifying whether it is neutral, acidic or basic.
  4. In the neutral solution, Red litmus will remain red and Blue litmus will remain blue.
  5. In the acidic solution, the Red litmus will remain red but the blue one will change to red in color due to acidic pH .
  6. In basic solution, the Red litmus will turn blue having the basic pH, but the blue one will remain blue only.
  7. So, Nitric acid is having acidic pH, dur to which blue litmus will turn red and red will remain red.

Therefore, the above given statement: ‘Nitric acid turns red litmus blue’ is false.
