Velocity time graph:

  1. A velocity-time graph gives the speed and direction of an object's traveling over a specific period of time.
  2. Velocity-time graphs are also called speed-time graphs.
  3. The vertical axis of the graph is the velocity of the object. The horizontal axis is the time from the starting from the rest.
  4. The slope of a velocity graph gives the acceleration.
  5. The area under the velocity-time graph gives the displacement.
  6. Now we can readily see from the above figure that at a speed of 16ms, Both the curves A and B are intersecting.
  7. Thus both the objects are moving with 16ms at a time 8s.

Thus, on the velocity-time graph, the point at which two curves coincide indicates that both the objects have the same velocities at that instant.
