Rusting of an article made up of iron is called?

Rusting of iron is called as corrosion and in the process of corrosion the iron get converted into iron oxide and this is an example of chemical change. Chemical change is characterized by the formation of new substances, Corrosion is a chemical change because rust is a chemical compound (hydrated iron oxide, Fe203.H20) which is totally different from element iron (Fe).
