Solution

Cause of change in seasons

  1. Season is described as the division of a year on the basis of changes in climate along with the environment and also the sunshine hours of a particular area.
  2. The planet earth takes 365 days to revolve around the sun and this revolution is significant in seasonal changes.
  3. Earth’s axis is not actually vertical but tilts at an angle of 23.5° at the orbital plane as it revolves around the Sun which further causes the different angle of incidence of sunlight at the Earth’s surface.
  4. The apparent movement of the Sun could be considered another significant reason for the change in seasons.
  5. When the North pole tilts toward the sun, it is summer in the Northern hemisphere and there exist longer days and shorter nights.
  6. When the south pole tilts towards the sun it is winter in the Northern hemisphere and there exist shorter days and longer nights.
  7. Near the equator days are always about 12 hours long, but these areas usually have a wet season and dry season.

Hence a change in seasons is caused by the tilt of the earth and the earth's movement around the sun.
