Solution

  1. The sparks in the woollen cloth are due to a small amount of static electricity.
  2. This static electricity is produced due to the friction between wool and other surfaces.
  3. Friction is the source of heat that makes electrons move.
  4. As the woollen cloth moves from our skin, the static jump between the cloth and the skin makes a cracking sound.
  5. The spark due to lightning produces a cracking sound due to the discharge of thousands of volts of electricity.
  6. It is the same sound that is caused by lightning and is also a static electric discharge.

Hence, lightning and the spark from the woollen clothes are essentially the same phenomena.
