The formula for calculating spectral lines:
Number of spectral lines =n2-n1n2-n1+12

Where, n1=lower energy level

n2=higher energy level

Step 2: Find number of spectral lines fromn2=5 to n1=1

Here it is given that n2=5 to n1=1

By substituting these values in the formula, we get:

Number of spectral line:

=(51)(51+1)2=(4)(5)2202=10spectrallines

Thus, the number of spectral lines seen for Hydrogen atom when electron jumps from n2=5 to n1=1 in visible region is 10
