Gymnosperms:

  1. Gymnosperms are plants in which the ovules are visible both before and after fertilization because they are not enclosed by an ovary wall.
  2. Gymnosperm comes from the Greek words gymnos (bare) and sperma (seeds).
  3. E.g- Cycas, Pinus, and Cedrus spp.

Gymnosperm features include:

  1. Gymnosperms produce naked seeds that lack a protective wall.
  2. They don't produce any flowers.
  3. Gymnosperms are heterosporous, meaning they produce two types of sporangia.
  4. They have no free-living male or female gametophytes.
