Solution

Angle of contact:

  1. The force of attraction between the molecules of the same compound is called cohesive force.
  2. The force of attraction between the molecules of different compounds is called adhesive force.
  3. When a liquid wets a solid surface, the adhesive force between the liquid molecules and the wall of the vessel is more than the cohesive force between the liquid molecules. The contact angle is less than 90°.

Therefore, the angle of contact for the liquid which wets the walls of the vessel is an acute angle.
