Dadabhai Naoroji was the founder of The East India Association in London in the year 1866. The Association gave the information on all Indian subjects to British citizens and members of Parliament. It also expressed the grievance of Indians and gave some remedial measures.
Purpose of association
- The purpose of the association was to put across Indian viewpoints across to the British public.
- The association gained support from many prominent Englishmen and was able to wield some influence on the British Parliament.
- It was the first organisation with members from different Indian provinces.
