The general formula of alkynes is CnH2n-2
Unsaturated hydrocarbons with a carbon-carbon triple bond between the two carbon atoms are known as alkynes. A triple bond is formed between two carbon atoms when three pairs of electrons are exchanged between them. Alkynes are distinguished from other hydrocarbons by the presence of a triple bond between the carbon atoms.
