Question

The unit of inductance is _____________

Open in App
Solution

Inductance

  1. The tendency of an electrical conductor to resist a change in the electric current passing through it is known as inductance.

The formula of Inductance:

L=ϕ(i)(i)

Where L is inductance,

ϕ(i) is the magnetic flux of current

i is current.

Calculating SI unit of Inductance:

SI unit of ϕ(i) is Weber

SI unit of i is Ampere.

L=ϕ(i)(i)

L=WeberAmpere

As Weber=Volt·sec

L=Volt·secAmpere

Volt·secAmpere=Henry

So the SI unit of Inductance is Henry which is denoted by ‘H’.
