Question

Two pure inductors each of self-inductance L are connected in series. Find the total inductance.

Solution

Pure Inductor:

A circuit is said to be pure if it only contains inductance (L), and not any additional elements like resistance or capacitance.

Given Data:

Two pure inductors each of self-inductance L are connected in series.

The total inductance of inductors connected in series is given by the following formula:

Leq=L1+L2

Substituting the values in the equation, we get the total inductance as

Leq=L+L=2L

Hence, the total inductance of two inductors connected in series is 2L.
