Under what conditions is the work done i) maximum and ii) minimum?

Work done = FsCosθ

Were θ is the angle between Force(F) and displacement(s).

  • (i) Work done will be maximum when Cos θ is maximum, at θ = 0 and Cos θ = 1.

Hence, work done is maximum when θ is at zero degrees.

  • (ii) Work done is minimum when the Force and Displacement are perpendicular to each other.
