Question

Uniform circular motion is not uniform:

Open in App
Solution

Circular motion:

  1. Circular motion is defined as the motion of the particle along the circular path.
  2. In every interval of time, the direction and position of the particle is changed.
  3. Examples are rotating of a satellite in a space, rotating of earth about its own axis.

Explanation:

Uniform circular motion

  1. When the speed of the particle and rate of angular speed are constant in circular motion then the circular motion is termed as uniform circular motion.
  2. Velocity of the particle is continuous changing.
  3. In this case there is no any tangential acceleration.
  4. Since the velocity is not constant. Thus, it is considered as non-uniform.
