Question

Verify whether the following are zeroes of the polynomial, indicated against them: p(x)=x21,x=1,-1

Open in App
Solution

We have,

p(x)=x21,x=1,-1

Putting the value x=1 in the polynomial p(x)=x21, we get

p(1)=121p(1)=11p(1)=0

Hence, x=1 is a zero of the polynomial p(x)=x21.

Now,

Putting the value x=1 in the polynomial p(x)=x21, we get

p(1)=(-1)21p(-1)=11p(-1)=0

Hence, x=1 is a zero of the polynomial p(x)=x21.
