The virtual image is an upright image that can be achieved where the rays seem to diverge but do not converge in reality. The virtual image is an image obtained from an optical system such that the light rays from the source do not cross to form an image. These light rays are obtained behind the mirror.
When can we see a virtual image?
The virtual image can be produced with the help of a diverging lens or a convex mirror. A virtual image occurs where rays only appear to diverge. The image formed will be upright. For obtaining a virtual image either convex, concave, or a plane mirror is used for obtaining the virtual image and a diverging lens is used.
